Wales Air Show, Swansea

Flying the Recycling Flag

Plastics Recycling, charity, RECOUP, supported by Plastipak, returned to the Wales Air Show. Working with Swansea City Council PET drinks bottles were collected for recycling at this high-profile event.  All the bottles collected were recycled by CleanTech, a Plastipak company.

The visitors (250,000+) were encouraged to look out for dedicated recycling points, serviced by RECOUP team and Plastipak volunteers.  A local Scout pack joined in the recycling effort by taking part in a litter pick along the beach and promenade.

RECOUP and Plastipak hosted a recycling roadshow, to allow members of the public to see for themselves how products are made using recycled plastic. They were able to as recycling questions and learn what happens to items they place in their recycling bins at home. Visitors were fascinated to follow the recycling journey to learn how bottles are recycled back into bottles in the UK.  Both RECOUP and Plastipak were encouraged by the conversations and willingness of the public to find out more about plastics and in particular the many ways it can be recycled to give it a second life.
